About Lyrics LK

Our Mission

Lyrics LK was founded in 2020 with a simple goal: to build the most comprehensive and accurate archive of Sinhala song lyrics available online. Sri Lanka has a rich musical tradition spanning decades, from classical Sinhala songs to modern pop, and we believe these lyrics deserve to be preserved and made accessible to everyone.

Today, Lyrics LK hosts over 13,000 Sinhala songs with lyrics in both the original Sinhala script and English transliteration (Singlish). Many songs also include full English translations and detailed interpretations of their meaning, making Sri Lankan music accessible to listeners around the world.

Our Editorial Process

We take accuracy seriously. Our content goes through several steps before publication:

  1. Initial transcription — Lyrics are transcribed from audio sources by contributors who are native Sinhala speakers familiar with the music.
  2. Transliteration — English transliterations are created to phonetically represent the Sinhala text, enabling non-Sinhala readers to sing along.
  3. Review and verification — Submissions are reviewed for accuracy, proper attribution (singer, lyricist, composer), and formatting consistency.
  4. Community corrections — Published lyrics are open to corrections from our community. Users can suggest edits which are reviewed before being applied.

Translations and meaning interpretations are contributed by bilingual editors with knowledge of Sinhala language and Sri Lankan musical culture. These are clearly marked as interpretive content and may reflect the contributor's understanding of the song.
