La Signore (ලහිරු පෙරේරා), the stage name of Lahiru Perera, is a Sri Lankan singer, songwriter, and music producer who helped bring an R&B and hip-hop sensibility into mainstream Sinhala pop. He broke through in 2008 with the single “Rambari” and has since built a catalogue of melodic, dance-leaning tracks that the diaspora and a younger Sri Lankan audience continue to play.
Lahiru Perera was born on 18 April 1984 in Kehelbaddara, Udugampola, in Sri Lanka’s Gampaha District. He was educated at D. S. Senanayake College in Colombo, and later pursued audio and music training at APITT Sri Lanka and the SAE Institute in Singapore, a background in production that shaped the polished, studio-driven sound of his releases.
Perera adopted the stage name La Signore and emerged at a time when contemporary R&B, rap, and electronic production were reshaping Sinhala popular music. His 2008 single “Rambari” became his signature hit and established his profile as one of the genre’s recognizable voices. Working as his own producer on much of his output, he has released a steady run of singles across the late 2000s and 2010s, blending Sinhala lyrics with modern urban arrangements.
Among the songs by Lahiru Perera that Lyrics-lk hosts is “Sudu Gawuma” (සුදු ගවුම), a melodic track that sits alongside crowd favourites such as “Salli” and “Mata Rawana” (මට රාවණා). The latter, written by Manuranga Wijesekara, is one of his more widely streamed releases. Across these tracks, La Signore’s appeal rests on hook-driven melodies and a contemporary production style that travels well beyond Sri Lanka.
Perera has also appeared on Sri Lankan television, serving as a coach on The Voice Teens Sri Lanka (Season 2, 2022) and as a judge on Derana 60 Plus. Outside the studio he launched a fragrance line, La Signore The Fragrance, extending the stage name into a personal brand. He remains an active figure in Sri Lanka’s contemporary music scene.
