Daddy (ඩැඩී) is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic bands, known for their energetic performances and genre-blending sound that spans pop, rock, reggae, and funk. Bursting onto the scene in the mid-2000s, the band quickly gained popularity with crowd favorites like “Chandrayan Pidu”, “Ai Kale”, and “Dangalanna Ba”.
Over the years, Daddy has undergone a natural evolution, both in sound and members. Two of the original founding members, Gayan Perera and Dilan (Dila), have since left the group. Despite these changes, Daddy continues to thrive, consistently releasing original music and delivering high-energy performances.
Current lineup: Nimantha Kaluarachchi, Shamila Siriwardana, Viresh Cooray (Chikka), Ayesh Jayawardhana, Nalina Kasmira, and Shane Joachim.
With projects like their orchestral concert series “Ale”, Daddy remains a dynamic presence in today’s Sinhala music scene. Their music reflects nearly two decades of shared experience, emotional range, and creative synergy – a true testament to their staying power and passion.
