Delawan Banda

Delawan Banda Lyrics English Translation

Drawing close in a spell,
my mind intoxicated by the hour,
I will not lose my way,
even though you kept teasing, I held back patiently
all through the evening night,
to savour the beauty, with a full heart,
until I carry you away with me,
I will wait, dressed and ready, on the road you come by..

As for me, I won’t be any trouble,
when I say listen, there’s nothing to fear,
there is no taste sweeter than honey,
to enjoy it, shall we go some evening… why so heavy-hearted?

Delawan Banda Song Meaning and Interpretation

This is a light, flirtatious, R&B-flavoured love song, a collaboration by Randhir Witana, Apzi and Romaine Willis. The mood is set at once: drawing close in a kind of spell, the singer says, his mind pleasantly intoxicated by the hour, and he promises he won’t lose his head even as she keeps teasing and holding back. It is the giddy, playful start of attraction.

His intent is gentle and hopeful. All through the evening he wants only to savour the beauty of the moment with a full heart, and he pictures himself waiting on the road she will come by, dressed and ready, until the day he can carry her away with him. The waiting is happy, not anxious, the anticipation of someone sure of what he feels.

The last lines are pure coaxing. Don’t worry, he reassures her, I won’t be any trouble; when I ask you to listen, there is nothing to fear; and nothing, he says, tastes sweeter than this. Then the invitation, and the gentle tease: shall we go out some evening, so why so heavy-hearted? It is a breezy, charming song about talking someone softly out of their hesitation, all warmth and flirtation with no hidden depths, and none intended.
