Me Nimavak Lyrics
Maage pana sema mata lanwelaa un
Ema hitha boma wirasaka welaa dan
Koma sangawamda iri thaluna hanguman
Arambumak nam nowe me nimaawak
Paaluwe man gewana hanguman
Alu andurema sangawee thiyenam
E puswechcha anmach susum
Bora as asse thaniwechcha den //
Ayi me tharam aadaren iddi man
Wena hadawathak hithata oba lankaran
Dali paata gaawichcha sithuwam aran
Kadatholu wechcha maga konaka innam balan...
Paaluwe man gewana hanguman
Alu andurema sangawee thiyenam
E puswechcha anmach susum
Bora as asse thaniwechcha den //
Me Nimavak Lyrics English Translation
The one who was as close to me as my own life,
that heart has now grown so estranged,
how am I to hide these scored, torn feelings?
this is not a beginning, this is an ending
If the feelings I spend out in loneliness
lie hidden in ashen dark,
then those rotted, unmatched sighs
are left all alone inside murky eyes //
Why, when I loved you this much,
do you draw another heart close to yours?
taking up this soot-grey painting,
I will stand and watch, at a broken corner of the road…
If the feelings I spend out in loneliness
lie hidden in ashen dark,
then those rotted, unmatched sighs
are left all alone inside murky eyes //

Me Nimavak Song Meaning and Interpretation
A bleak, wounded heartbreak song whose title says it plainly: me nimaavak, this is an ending. The one who was once as close to him as his own life has now grown cold and estranged, and he asks how he could possibly hide the scored, torn feelings left behind. There will be no fresh start here, only a finish.
The middle sinks into the imagery of ash and murk that runs through the whole song. The feelings he spends alone lie hidden in ashen dark; his sighs are rotted and unmatched, left orphaned inside clouded, murky eyes. Loneliness here has a colour, grey, ashen, smoke-stained, the palette of a burnt-out love.
The last verse holds the raw question and a final, desolate image. Why, when I loved you this much, he asks, do you draw another heart close to yours? And he pictures himself taking up a soot-grey painting, the ruined picture of their love, and standing to watch from a broken corner of the road, a man left at the roadside of his own life. Written and sung by Sanjeew Lonlies, it is a stark, ash-toned song about the moment a love you gave everything to quietly, finally ends.
