Amila Sandaruwan (අමිල සඳරුවන්, also written Amila Sandaruwan Perera) is a Sri Lankan singer-songwriter working in the island’s alternative Sinhala music scene. He is associated with the band Happy Journey and is known for independent, lyric-driven releases that mix social commentary with a relaxed, acoustic-leaning style.
Sandaruwan came up through Sri Lanka’s independent alternative circuit rather than the mainstream playback industry, releasing music both with Happy Journey and under his own name. His solo single “Samanya Janathawa” (the everyday people), profiled by the music site Decibel in 2020, is a good example of his singer-songwriter approach, and Lyrics-lk hosts it as Samanya Janathawa Samanai.
