Hector Dias is a Sri Lankan pop singer, saxophonist, and bandleader, known for romantic Sinhala songs such as Anduragala Yana Horawe and Suranganavee, and as the leader of the popular live band D Major. He was born on 19 January 1973.
Dias trained as a saxophonist and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra before moving into popular music. He went on to front D Major, a Sri Lankan band that performs at weddings, dinner dances, and concerts both at home and for diaspora audiences abroad. His sound leans toward a classy, romantic style that carries his saxophone background into pop arrangements.
His recorded output spans two decades. The album Rathriya (2004) included the widely played Anduragala Yana Horawe (also listed as Andura Gala Yana Horawe), and the 2012 album Suranganavee collected songs including Nethu Wasa. He has continued releasing singles in the years since.
In 2021 Dias made his acting debut in the Hiru TV teledrama Divithura, and also performed its opening theme, Sihisare Sathsare, which became one of his better-known recent recordings.
