Ranil Jayasena (also credited as Dr. Ranil Jayasena) is a Sri Lankan singer and lyricist who writes and performs his own Sinhala songs. He is a singer-songwriter rather than a playback artist, and on several of his recordings he is the author of both the words and the vocal.
On Pahan Waten, Ranil Jayasena is credited as both the singer and the lyricist, with the recording released as an official music video. He performs and writes the lyrics for Davatala Gatha as well, the pattern of a writer who delivers his own material rather than handing it to another voice.
His duet Oba Neth Konin Baluwa pairs him with the established Sri Lankan singer Nirosha Virajini, one of the more widely recorded female voices in Sinhala popular music.
