Eranga Jayawardhana (එරංග ජයවර්ධන, also spelled Eranga Jayawardena) is a Sri Lankan music composer, singer, and sound engineer best known for composing and performing the soundtrack of the 2019 Sinhala film Rush. Working across film, television, and advertising, he is a composer whose voice carries most of the songs he writes.
Jayawardhana’s music career began in 1998. Much of his early work was in advertising, where he composed scores and jingles for a large number of Sri Lankan television commercials. He later moved into screen music, serving as music director on the feature film Rush (2019), directed by Mahesh Munasinghe, and contributing to the teledrama Once Upon a Time in Colombo. His screen credits also include the film Withered Leaf (2016).
For Rush, Jayawardhana composed the full score and sang on every track, with lyrics written by Nilar N. Cassim and Kelum Srimal. The film premiered in Sri Lanka in October 2019 and later won the Most Popular Film award at the 2021 SLIM-Nielsen People’s Awards.
The four songs from the film pair Jayawardhana’s vocals with several guest singers. He duets with Gayani Kaushalya on “Lasowin”, with Hansini Koralage on “Sihilase”, and with Ashwini Danthanarayana on “Atha Pawela”, while “Wasanthayai” is a solo turn.
