Flash Back (ෆ්ලෑෂ් බැක්, also written Flashback) is a Sri Lankan live band founded in 1991 and led by vocalist and bandleader Roshan Fernando. Built around a rotating ensemble of singers and instrumentalists, the group is one of the most widely booked stage bands in the country, known for high-energy live shows at home and across the Sri Lankan diaspora.
Flashback grew from a family musical venture into a registered touring outfit with its own studios and crew. Over three decades the band has performed across the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and Europe, serving the same overseas Sinhala audience that seeks out these songs online. Its repertoire mixes original Sinhala pop with the medley sets that are a staple of the Sri Lankan baila and stage-band tradition.
The band’s vocal lineup has changed over the years, drawing in singers such as Kingsly Pieris and Rose Alagiyawanna, while Roshan Fernando has remained the constant as leader. Flashback was named SLIM-Kantar Musical Band of the Year in 2024 and 2025, a recognition of its continued draw on the live circuit.
Among the band’s recorded output are the tracks it released in the mid-2000s, including Anthima Satane (අන්තිම සටනේ) and Maha Muhuda Sarai (මහ මුහුද සරයි). The group is also associated with original compositions such as “Gassena Paddena” and “Yaaluwe Api Ava,” alongside the seasonal and event pieces it performs live.
Each of these pages presents the lyrics in the original Sinhala script with an English transliteration (Singlish) and a translation, so a listener can follow the meaning while a Flash Back recording plays.
