Jayantha Kapuwatte (ජයන්ත කපුවත්ත) is a Sri Lankan singer based in the Netherlands, best known for a charity album of Sinhala songs recorded in Sri Lanka, including Mangala Dinaya and Piyathuma.
Kapuwatte was born in Sri Lanka and relocated to the Netherlands in the late 1980s. Trained in Western music, he has worked as a music teacher, voice trainer, and music therapist, while continuing to sing in Sinhala.
His best-known release is a 13-track album of Sinhala songs recorded at Shans Recording Studio in Kandana, Sri Lanka, with engineering by his eldest brother, Augustine. Kapuwatte released it largely to raise funds for underprivileged children in Sri Lanka. Several tracks are duets with his mother, Evelyn Kumari Kapuwatte, including the song “Amme”.
