Kanchana Anuradhi Fernando (කාංචනා අනුරාධි, also written Kanchana Anuradhi) is a Sri Lankan singer, lyricist, and composer who rose to prominence in the late 2010s after building an audience through YouTube cover performances. Trained in Indian classical music and known for a clear, emotive voice, she has become one of the more recognisable younger voices in contemporary Sinhala pop.
Kanchana Anuradhi was born on 13 September 1998 in Ragama, in the Gampaha District. She studied at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts, completing a special degree in Performing Arts, and trained formally in Indian classical music. She holds A-grade vocalist status at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, a credential that reflects her grounding in classical technique rather than purely commercial pop.
She first drew wide attention around 2015 to 2016 by posting cover versions online, and in 2016 won a state award as best traditional folk singer. From there she moved into original songs and collaborations, working across the network of producers and singers driving the current Sinhala music scene. Her duet Danena Thuru Maa (දැනෙනා තුරු මා) with Dinesh Gamage became one of her most widely played tracks, and her solo single Udurawee (උදුරාවී) found a large following among younger listeners.
Kanchana Anuradhi’s catalogue ranges from gentle love songs to fuller pop productions, and she has lent her voice to several well-known collaborations. The slow, plaintive Akikaru Pem Kathawak (අකීකරු පෙම් කතාවක්) is among the songs that established her as a singer audiences associate with heartfelt romantic material.
Beyond her early folk-singing award, Kanchana Anuradhi Fernando has gathered industry recognition as her profile has grown, including being featured by Spotify as a South Asian Heritage Month ambassador representing Sri Lanka. Lyrics-lk hosts her songs with Sinhala lyrics alongside English translation and transliteration, making the meaning of each track accessible to listeners across the diaspora.
