Dimanka Wellalage (දිමංක වෙල්ලලගේ, also spelled Dimanka Welalage) is a Sri Lankan singer known for melancholic, lyric-driven pop ballads built around themes of love, loss, and reflection. He emerged in the 2010s and built a steady following among Sri Lankan listeners and the Sinhala diaspora, drawn to the introspective tone of his songs and the words he chooses for them.
Dimanka Wellalage’s first release, “Nidukin Inumana”, arrived in 2013 and quickly found an audience, establishing the quiet, sorrowful register that runs through much of his later work. Over the following years he moved between original singles, television theme songs for teledrama productions, and live performance, recording a catalogue that now runs to several dozen tracks.
His 2020 release “Ahinsakawi” (අහිංසකාවී) became his most widely streamed song and remains the track most listeners associate with his name. On Lyrics-lk it sits alongside other staples of his catalogue, including Oba Ekka Mama and Sudu Nangi.
Dimanka Welalage’s songs are typically slow, vocal-forward, and centred on a single emotional thread rather than a hook. The catalogue Lyrics-lk hosts spans his early breakout through his more recent singles, and several were written and composed by frequent collaborators in the contemporary Colombo studio scene.
Beyond his own singing, Dimanka Wellalage has written music for other performers, composing songs recorded by artists such as Kelum Leudeniya, Amith Ishan, and Nadeera Nonis. That work places him within the wider community of singer-songwriters shaping Sri Lankan pop in the 2010s and 2020s.
Each of his songs on Lyrics-lk is presented with the Sinhala lyrics, an English transliteration, and a translation, so listeners can follow both the sound and the meaning of his words.
