Siriyadevi, on your face
it shone like the moon,
warmth will rise in my heart
like the sun that shone,
like the sun that shone
Goddess of rasanjana in the gaze of your eyes,
goddess of sighs in your smile,
life, my very breath,
painting pictures of love,
painting pictures of love
Spreading pollen on the flower of my heart,
the love-nectar of the blossom
Hiding those blue eyes away in a reverie,
the enchanting, mind-capturing desire of your glance
painting pictures of love,
painting pictures of love
In the grove of your heart is the fragrance of comfort,
you are the throne of my whole life
I will swim in the river of your love,
I hand my life over to you
painting pictures of love,
painting pictures of love
Siriyadevi, on your face
it shone like the moon,
warmth will rise in my heart
like the sun that shone,
like the sun that shone
Goddess of rasanjana in the gaze of your eyes,
goddess of sighs in your smile,
life, my very breath,
painting pictures of love,
painting pictures of love

Siriyadevi Song Meaning and Interpretation
This is a lush, worshipful love song that treats the beloved as a goddess from its very first word. He calls her Siriyadevi, a name meaning goddess of grace and good fortune, and says her face shone on him like the moon, while the warmth she brings will rise in his heart like the sun. From the start she is something more than a woman; she is a deity to be adored.
The praise piles up in classical images. In the gaze of her eyes he sees a goddess of rasanjana, the precious collyrium that blesses the sight, and in her smile a goddess of sighs. She is his very life and breath, and everything she does he describes as aadara siththam mawa, painting pictures of love, the tender refrain the whole song keeps returning to. He scatters pollen on the flower of his heart, drinks the love-nectar of her blossom, and hides her blue eyes away in his reverie.
The close turns adoration into surrender. In the grove of her heart, he says, lies the fragrance of comfort, and she is the sihasuna, the very throne, of his whole life. He will swim in the river of her love, and he hands his entire life over to her. It is romantic love raised to the pitch of devotion, a man worshipping his beloved as though at a shrine.
