Kumara Thirimadura (කුමාර තිරිමාදුර), born Thirimadura Upula Kumara de Zoysa, is a Sri Lankan actor and singer who is also known by the spelling Kumara Thirimaduwa. Long established on the Sinhala stage and screen, he turned to recording in the mid 2010s, and the songs he wrote and sang from that period are the ones featured on Lyrics-lk.
Thirimadura was born on 17 April 1969 in Rawathawatta, Moratuwa. Before acting became his full-time work he spent about fourteen years as a journalist at the Divaina newspaper. He went on to become one of the most recognised figures of Sri Lankan theatre, with a body of work that spans roughly 90 stage plays, dozens of films, and many television dramas since the late 1980s.
Alongside acting, Thirimadura is an A-grade singer at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. He released his debut solo visual song in June 2016 and launched a fourteen-track album titled Ae Mata Adarei (ඒ මට ආදරෙයි) at a live musical event in 2017. As both writer and performer on several of these songs, he gives the album an unusually personal, storytelling quality, which is part of why listeners search for both his songs and their words.
