Bachi Susan (also written Bachi Susantha; බච්චි සුසන්) is a Sri Lankan singer and songwriter known for a deep, weathered voice and a run of emotionally driven Sinhala pop and film songs. He is most recognised for hits such as Channa Kinnaravi, Himi Nowuna and Sarath Sande, and for playback work across several Sinhala films.
Bachi Susan built his name over more than two decades in the Sinhala music scene, working largely outside formal musical training and leaning instead on a distinctive vocal tone that suits longing and heartbreak. Much of his early visibility came through cinema. His film songs include the theme for Gharasarapa, heard here as Hama Deyak Pene, and the widely played Sarath Sande from the 2009 film Julia, recorded with Charith Abesinghe.
The songs most associated with Bachi Susan are the slow, narrative ballads that carry his voice plainly: Kohe Yannada Maa, Hitha Hiri Watunado and Maga Bala among them. He also appears on the bilingual single Visekari (විසේකාරී) alongside Pasan Liyanage, a pairing that pushed his sound toward a more contemporary, radio-leaning arrangement.
For a singer with no conservatory background, Bachi Susan has held a steady place in popular Sinhala music, and his ballads continue to draw listeners among Sri Lankans at home and across the diaspora. Each song page here presents the lyrics in Sinhala script with an English transliteration and translation, so the meaning travels with the melody.
