Sithata danenawaRa Ahase Lyrics English Translation
Stars rose and shone across the night sky
And I was left alone, sunk in an ocean of thoughts
A star’s light falls into your dark blue eyes
The moon’s rays trace out your face
The way we walked together, in love
The stars bring it all back to my memory
I feel it in my heart
Your soft hand laced through mine
On a day when a thousand stars had risen
The two of us walked, the way we once did
It lingers and glows among the stars
I feel it in my heart

Ra Ahase Song Meaning and Interpretation
A young man stands under a sky full of stars, and the sight pulls him straight back to someone he used to walk beside. The song opens with him alone, watching the stars come out one by one, while his own thoughts rise and spread until he feels like he is drowning in them. That image of an “ocean of thoughts” is the whole mood of the song, a quiet night where there is nothing to do but remember.
As he looks up, the sky starts giving her back to him. He sees a star’s light settle into her dark blue eyes, and the soft glow of the moon shaping the lines of her face. In Sinhala song the moon and starlight are the gentle, cooling kind of light, soft and calm rather than bright, so picturing her face in that light tells you he remembers her with tenderness, not heat. Each star seems to carry a piece of the memory of the two of them walking together, in love, and it all comes flooding back.
The last verse goes deeper into one particular memory, her soft hand laced through his on a night when the sky was full of stars, the two of them walking the same path they always used to. He says that memory still lingers and glows up among the stars, as if the night sky has become the place where their love is kept. The stars are not just decoration here, they are his keepsake, the one thing still holding what they had.
What stays with you is that gentle ache of remembering. He is alone now, and the very same sky that they once walked under is what reminds him she is gone. “I feel it in my heart,” he keeps saying, and by the end you understand that the night sky has turned into both his comfort and his loneliness, beautiful to look at and impossible to look away from.
