nea thawa wena kenek unne obamai
thawath keneku hithe oya
hithila hidinu ethe..
kisidaa aithi nethe..Na Thawath Hithak Lyrics English Translation
You don’t have a heart for me the way mine is for you,
so you can come back to me from this far away.
The longing you give me only brings me pain,
the breath you were to me, you won’t give it now.
I asked the sorrow about you,
and I am still suffering it,
all I ever wished for was your happiness.
More than caring for me, it was you who looked out for yourself.
The full moon of the night, where did it go, swallowed up in the dark.
Someone else is in your heart now,
they have settled there,
and you were never mine to keep.
This heart hoped for you, and it only knew pain.
The one who turned out to be no one else but you.
Someone else is in your heart now,
they have settled there,
and you were never mine to keep.

Na Thawath Hithak Song Meaning and Interpretation
A young man is talking to the girl he loved, after she has gone to someone else. He is not angry. That is the first thing you notice. He has loved her so completely that even now, with her gone, he keeps wishing her well. The whole song is him quietly accepting a heartbreak he did not see coming.
He starts by admitting the hard truth out loud: she never felt for him what he felt for her. Her heart was never the same as his. He had made her his whole world, treated her like the breath in his body, and now that breath has been taken away. When he says she “looked out for herself” more than she cared for him, he is not insulting her. He is just realising, late, that he was always loving harder than she was.
The line that carries the most weight is the moon. He calls her the full moon of the night and then asks where it went, “swallowed up in the dark.” In Sinhala songs the full moon stands for a beauty that is calm and complete, a light that fills the whole sky. So when his moon disappears into the dark, he is saying the one source of light in his life has been put out, and the night, his life now, has nothing left to glow by. It is a gentle way of saying the world has gone black for him.
What makes the song ache is how he ends it. He keeps repeating that someone else has settled into her heart, and then he tells himself the saddest thing of all: she was never his to keep in the first place. He is not begging for her back. He is teaching his own heart to let go, while admitting it loved a person it was never going to be allowed to hold.
