Nosalenna Kadulak Dasin Oba Ma Kere

Nosalenna Kadulak Dasin Oba Ma Kere Lyrics English Translation
Don’t let a tear tremble in your eyes,
you, over me
and wound this heart of mine,
the one that weeps every day
Don’t let a tear tremble in your eyes,
you, over me
You walked with me down this path of flowers,
you came, just as your heart wished
Don’t let a tear tremble in your eyes …
You rose like light, then drifted far away,
like a dream that was only illusion
Don’t let a tear tremble in your eyes …

Nosalenna Kadulak Dasin Oba Ma Kere Song Meaning and Interpretation
She has already gone, and the first thing the man singing does is ask her not to cry about it. That is the whole song, and it makes for a strange, generous kind of heartbreak. He is the one left hurting, but what he wants is for her eyes to stay dry.
The line he keeps coming back to carries two things at once. Her tears would hurt him, because his own heart is already crying every day, and one more tear from her is more weight than it can take. He would rather carry the pain by himself than watch her carry any part of it.
The middle verse is the only glance back at the good days. A “path of flowers” is the familiar Sinhala image for a love while it is still going well, the lane two people walk together while everything is in bloom. What matters in that line is the second half: nobody pulled her onto that path, she came because her own heart wanted to. He never accuses her of a thing, and that is exactly what makes it ache.
The last verse is where it lands. The word he uses for her arrival, paaya, is the one you use for the sun or the moon coming up, so she did not simply turn up in his life, she rose over it like light. Then she floated off into the distance. He calls the whole thing a maya sihinaya, an illusion, a dream, borrowing the old Buddhist idea of something that feels completely solid while you are inside it and turns out to be nothing you could ever have held.
Nothing gets demanded here and nothing gets repaired. He just wants her to walk away light, with the crying kept on his side of it.
