SJS is a Sri Lankan novelty pop act built around the collaboration of singers and producers Sanjeew Lonliyes, Sanjaya Yapa, and Jagath Rasnayake, whose initials give the project its name. The group is known for light, humorous Sinhala singles that circulated widely on download and lyrics sites in the 2010s.
SJS works in a comic, conversational register, often pairing everyday teenage and romance themes with catchy choruses. The act’s best-known release is the Katta Kaala series, beginning with Katta Kaala (Sweety Kelle) (also credited as “Mage Sweety Kella”), a track that spread across Sinhala music portals. The sequel, Chocolate Kealla Mage (Katta Kala 2), continued the same playful style and is credited to Sanjeew Lonliyes, Sanjaya Yapa, and Jagath Rasnayake.
The members also work outside the SJS name. Jagath Rasnayake handles much of the music and production, while Sanjeew Lonliyes records under his own name as well.
