Tharaka Karunanayake (also spelled Tharaka Karunanayaka, තාරක කරුණානායක) is a Sri Lankan singer and music director who emerged in the late 2000s with dance and hip-hop influenced love songs, and who later wrote film music for major pop acts.
Karunanayake first drew attention as a member of the band Sixth Lane before stepping out on his own. His debut release paired two singles, “Nil Tharu” (නිල් තරු) and “Dasiyaka Se” (දාසියක සේ), both built around a contemporary dance and hip-hop sound rather than the older ballad style. The arrangements were handled by Eranga Jayawardena and Udara Dandeniya, and the songs found a steady audience on Sri Lankan radio and lyric sites.
Beyond singing, Tharaka Karunanayaka composed “Sihilel Wu” for the film Pravegaya, a track performed by Bathiya and Santhush together with Umariya Sinhawansa. The credit places him among the writers supplying material to the island’s leading pop performers.
Lyrics-lk presents these songs in the original Sinhala script alongside English transliteration and translation, so listeners can follow the meaning as well as the words.
