Anuradha Nandasiri (අනුරාධා නන්දසිරි), born Nishamani Anuradha Nandasiri on 14 February 1974, is a Sri Lankan vocalist and music teacher. She is the daughter of the celebrated musical couple Sanath Nandasiri and Malkanthi Nandasiri, and she carries that family’s classical-leaning Sinhala song tradition into her own recordings and teaching.
Anuradha grew up in a household steeped in music. Her father, Sanath Nandasiri, is one of the most respected figures in Sinhala light classical music, and her mother, Malkanthi Nandasiri, is an accomplished singer in her own right. The affection between father and daughter was made famous in Sanath’s well-known song “Du Anuradha”, written for her, and a 2018 tribute concert of the same name was staged in her honour.
She was educated at Musaeus College in Colombo and trained in Bharatha Natyam and up-country dance alongside her music studies. As a qualified Visharada vocalist she taught music in school for several years and later assisted at her father’s music school, Gandaria.
Anuradha performed for years beside her parents at television, radio, and concert appearances before stepping out as a recording artist. Her debut song, “Etaha Palathakata”, paired lyrics by her friend Ganga Vilashini with music by Rohana Weerasinghe. Her first music video, “Thawa Warak Oba”, was released on 1 January 2017, set to lyrics by Saman Janaranjana Herath and music composed by Sarath Pieris.
Her style stays close to the melodic, lyric-forward sensibility of her parents’ generation, favouring restraint and clear diction over ornament. Listeners who know her father’s catalogue will recognise the same unhurried phrasing in her work.
Lyrics-lk presents these songs with Sinhala lyrics, English transliteration, and translation, so a bilingual listener can follow both the words and their meaning. Searchers also reach her through the spelling Anuradha Nandasiri and her given name Nishamani Anuradha.
