Himashel Alwis (හිමාෂෙල් අල්විස්) is a contemporary Sri Lankan singer who records in Sinhala. He is known for a run of melodic love songs released through Sri Lankan music platforms in the mid-2010s, including “Heena Mandarame” (also titled “Thawath Warak Oba”) and “Adare Wedana”.
Alwis built his audience through digital singles distributed on Sri Lankan download and streaming sites such as Hiru FM, Music.lk and JayaSriLanka rather than through a major studio album. His material sits in the modern Sinhala romantic-ballad mould, pairing simple arrangements with sentimental themes of love and longing. One of his most widely shared tracks, “Dhoni” (2018), was set to music by Kasun Polgampola with lyrics by Eesha Nirmani, and other releases include “Bawayen Bawaye” and “Api Adare Keruwa”.
