Ravindu Sathsara (රවිඳු සත්සර) is a Sri Lankan singer and musician trained in North Indian classical music, known for melodic Sinhala singles and for playback work in teledramas and film. His 2013 release “Amme Obe Suwandin”, a tribute to a mother, remains one of his most recognised early songs.
Sathsara was born on 24 May 1998 in Kegalle and attended Bandaranayake College, Gampaha. He went on to study music at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo, and trained in the North Indian classical tradition under Visharada Sunil Dayananda Konara. He has held the Sangeeth Visharada grade and pursued performing-arts study extending to the Bhatkhande tradition associated with Lucknow.
Sathsara began performing as a child, winning singing competitions in 2009 and 2010 and placing in the Derana Little Star youth talent contest. He later moved into recorded singles and playback singing for screen productions. His catalogue ranges from devotional and sentimental songs such as “Niwan Dakin Amme” to more recent collaborative releases.
