Supun Perera is a Sri Lankan singer and songwriter working in contemporary Sinhala pop, known for blending pop arrangements with influences from Indian and traditional Sri Lankan music. He came to wider attention through singles such as “Radhawani” (2017) and “Prathihari” (2019), and through his appearances on large multi-artist collaborations.
Perera, who hails from Gampaha on Sri Lanka’s western coast, has built a steady catalogue of original songs across the late 2010s and 2020s. His releases lean on melodic hooks and a fusion sound that pairs modern pop production with South Asian melodic colour. Tracks like “Kampa Nowan Mahamaya” (2019) and “Surath Suwaya” sit alongside later singles including “Naden”, “Ma Prarthanawe” and “Prema Chaaya”, marking him as one of the more active voices in the current Sinhala pop scene.
One of Perera’s most widely heard recordings is Daatha Dara, an ensemble single he performs alongside Dhanith Sri, Dinesh Gamage, Dinupa Kodagoda, Methun SK and Ridma Weerawardena. The pairing with this circle of younger Colombo-based artists reflects the collaborative, project-driven way much new Sinhala music is now made and shared.
