Eranda Prabath

Eranda Prabath (also written Eranda Prabhath) is a Sri Lankan singer-songwriter and composer who writes and produces his own Sinhala songs. He is credited as the singer, lyricist, and music composer on most of his releases, working largely outside the major playback-film system as an independent recording artist.

Career

Prabath’s recordings span the contemporary Sinhala scene, with tracks circulating on Sri Lankan music platforms such as Hiru FM and Ananmanan from the mid-2010s onward. He typically takes a full author’s role on a song, handling the lyrics, melody, and composition himself rather than performing material written by others.

One of his more widely shared songs is Sakkarawattama (සක්කරවට්ටම), a collaboration with Crack Mrks for which Prabath wrote the words and composed the music. The pairing of his songwriting with a rap or hip-hop voice on that track is typical of how newer Sinhala releases blend melodic singing with spoken-word sections.
