Gayan Gunawardana (ගයාන් ගුණවර්ධන) is a Sri Lankan singer, actor, and television presenter, known for romantic singles such as Isabella and Oba Wenuwen. The son of veteran playback singer Nuwan Gunawardana, he built a following among younger Sinhala listeners through pop ballads and a parallel career in television drama.
Gunawardana was born on 14 August 1992 in Colombo. He grew up in a musical household as the son of Nuwan Gunawardana, a well-established Sri Lankan vocalist, and entered performing from a young age, following his father onto the stage.
Active as a performer since the late 2000s, Gunawardana released a string of singles that leaned toward contemporary love songs. His 2018 lyric-video single Isabella (ඉසබෙලා) became one of his most recognised tracks, and earlier work such as Ayemath Enawado Oya and Oba Wenuwen kept him in regular rotation among Sinhala audiences.
He has also written and composed, sharing credits on Hangum Mal Warusa alongside Chamila Thushari, and contributing music to recordings by Indika Kuruppuarachchi.
One of Gunawardana’s most enduring duets is Adare Gindarak with Uresha Ravihari, a song that pairs his voice with one of the most familiar female vocalists in modern Sinhala pop. Alongside his recordings, he has expanded into acting and presenting for major Sri Lankan television networks, appearing in teledramas through the late 2010s and 2020s.
