Methun SK (also written Methun Sk; මෙතුන් SK) is a contemporary Sri Lankan singer, lyricist, and music producer who emerged in the late 2010s and built a following through a string of melodic Sinhala pop releases. He is known both for performing and for writing his own material, and for founding the youth-focused live concert series NaadhaGama.
Methun SK began releasing singles around 2018, the year his song Sasaren Aa Mithura appeared. He wrote the lyrics for that track himself, a pattern that recurs across his catalogue. Over the following years he released a steady run of songs that circulated widely on Sri Lankan streaming and music-video platforms.
His profile rose sharply with Kaari Naa Sanda (කාරි නෑ සඳ, 2023), featuring Wayanaka Perera, on which Methun SK was both the singer and the writer. The song reached the YouTube trending lists and Sri Lankan hit-radio rotations, accumulating millions of views and becoming the release most associated with his name.
Much of Methun SK’s work is collaborative. The 2020 single Datha Dara brings together several vocalists, including Dinupa Kodagoda, Dinesh Gamage, and Supun Perera, alongside Methun SK. His 2019 single Mathaka Pusthakale was set to music composed by Senanga Dissanayake, while Sasaren Aa Mithura paired his lyrics with composition by the duo Sarith and Surith.
Methun SK is described as originating from the southern city of Matara. Beyond his own recordings, he is credited as the founder and producer of NaadhaGama, a popular Sri Lankan youth concert series that has given a stage to a number of younger performers. His combined role as performer, lyricist, and producer places him among the do-it-yourself voices of the current Sinhala pop generation. On Lyrics-lk his songs are presented with Sinhala lyrics, transliteration in English (Singlish), and English translation, with each release linked for readers who want the meaning alongside the words.
Every Sinhala lyric, composition, and song credit by Methun SK.
