Thiwanka Lakmal (තිවංක ලක්මාල්) is a Sri Lankan singer and songwriter who writes and composes much of his own material, working across solo ballads and collaborative pop tracks. He is known for romantic Sinhala songs of the early 2010s, several of which he both wrote and set to melody himself.
Thiwanka Lakmal released “Me Tharam Adare” (මේ තරම් ආදරේ) in 2014, a track for which he is credited with both the lyrics and the melody, a pattern that recurs across his work. He also recorded “Katha Karana Kan” as a duet with vocalist Chamari Perera, and the introspective “Kelesin Yali Amathanu Kelesin”.
One of his most widely circulated tracks is “Heeneka Thani Karala”, released with producer Iraj Weeraratne and featuring Devashrie. The song pairs his songwriting with Iraj’s production and became one of the better-known recordings to carry his name.
