A young man is standing alone at the foot of the Hanthana hills, by the campus where he once shared his days with the girl he loved, and she is gone. The song opens on that exact place at nightfall. Hanthana is the mountain range that rises behind the University of Peradeniya, and for generations of students it has been the backdrop to first love and goodbyes, so naming it here is not just scenery.
