A young man is holding the woman he loves, and the whole song is him trying to put words to how she makes him feel. He calls her his “moon princess,” and that name carries the heart of the song. In Sinhala love poetry the moon is the favourite way to praise a face, soft, glowing, calm, the kind of beauty that soothes you instead of dazzling you. So when he names her after the moon, he is saying she is the gentlest, most beautiful thing in his sky.
