Kavindya Adikari (also spelled Kavindya Adhikari), කාවින්ද්යා අධිකාරී, is a Sri Lankan singer, presenter, and actress, born 20 June 1996. She is widely known as the daughter of vocalists Athula Adikari and Samitha Mudunkotuwa, and for her own contemporary Sinhala songs such as “Pem Heena” and “Unmada Chithra”.
Kavindya Adikari grew up in one of Sri Lanka’s best-known musical households. Both of her parents, Athula Adikari and Samitha Mudunkotuwa, are established playback and stage singers, and she began performing in public from a young age. Her debut recording project, the album Kirulak, appeared in 2012 while she was still in her teens.
Although she had recorded earlier, Kavindya Adhikari reached a wider audience around 2016 with “Pem Heena” (පෙම් හීන), a ballad that circulated widely online and remains her most recognised single. The song showcases the wide vocal range and restrained, emotive delivery that became her signature.
She has since released a steady run of singles that blend traditional Sri Lankan textures with pop and contemporary production. Her recording of “Unmada Chithra” was made with Sahan Chamikara, and she has also contributed to teledrama and film music, including the theme associated with Sal Sapuna. Alongside music, she works as a television presenter and has appeared as an actress.
Kavindya Adikari’s music sits between the classical Sinhala vocal tradition she inherited and a younger pop sensibility, and her live and studio versions of “Pem Heena” have kept her visible to a diaspora audience. As Kavindya Adhikari she is also a frequent presence in Sri Lankan entertainment media as a presenter and public figure. For listeners, the pages here pair her Sinhala lyrics with English translation and meaning.
