Srimathi Thilakarathne (also spelled Srimathi Thilakaratne, ශ්රීමති තිලකරත්න) is a Sri Lankan playback and stage singer active in the classic era of Sinhala light music, known for melodic numbers such as Athma Gananaka Sithiwili Athare and her duet with Victor Rathnayaka, Me Mulu Ahasama Mata Madi.
Thilakarathne built her catalogue within the songwriter-composer tradition that shaped Sinhala radio music, recording with established composers and lyricists of the period. Her best-known recording, Raththaran Manik, was set to music by Victor Rathnayaka with lyrics by Premakirthi de Alwis, a pairing that placed her alongside some of the most respected names of Sinhala song.
She also recorded duets with leading male vocalists of her generation, including a well-remembered pairing with Milton Perera on the song “Sansun Ruwan Hada Mandiraye”. Her repertoire ranges from devotional and patriotic pieces to tender love songs, a breadth typical of singers who worked across radio, recording, and live performance.
Srimathi Thilakaratne is remembered as part of the supporting bench of vocalists who gave the golden age of Sinhala music its depth, performing songs that remain in circulation among diaspora and home audiences alike. Each of these pages presents the lyrics in the original Sinhala script with transliteration and an English translation, so listeners can follow the meaning as well as the melody.
