Thrishala Wijethunga (also spelled Thrishala Wijesinghe) is a Sri Lankan vocalist known for performing the songs of the 2015 children’s musical film Ho Gaana Pokuna (The Singing Pond), directed by Indika Ferdinando.
Thrishala Wijethunga sang the lead vocals on the film’s theme song, “Rata Pena Kiri Haawa”, with backing vocals by Dewmini Fernando, Dinith Ridmika, Bhanuka Senevirathna and Nishami Naisara. The film’s score and songs were composed by Dinesh Subhasinghe, with lyrics by Indika Ferdinando and Kusumsiri Liyanaarachchi.
The soundtrack she contributed to became one of the most recognised parts of the film, which won awards for its music, including recognition for Dinesh Subhasinghe’s original score. Ho Gaana Pokuna also received international honours, among them the Teacher’s Choice Prize at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and Best Feature Film at the Lucas International Children’s Festival.
