Dayasiri Jayasekara (දයාසිරි ජයසේකර), also written Dayasiri Jayasekera, is a Sri Lankan singer, lawyer, and politician who came to wider attention as a vocalist through the reality television contest Mega Star. Better known to the public as a Member of Parliament, he has also released a string of popular Sinhala songs, several of which served as television teledrama themes.
Jayasekara, born in 1969, rose to musical prominence in 2010 when he competed on the Swarnavahini reality show Mega Star, where he finished as runner-up. His debut single, “Sansare”, followed in 2012, and it opened the way to a recording career he pursued alongside his work as a lawyer and politician. His warm, accessible baritone suited the melodic, sentimental style that dominates contemporary Sinhala radio and teledrama soundtracks.
Many of Dayasiri Jayasekara’s best-known recordings reached listeners through teledrama theme songs. Hitha Aran Yanna became widely shared as a serial theme, and Alawantha Neth Wida (ආලවන්ත නෙත් විදා), tied to the Muthu Palasa production, is among his most requested titles. The romantic ballad Premalingane and the reflective Loketath Wada round out his solo catalogue.
He has also recorded notable duets. Oya Hungak Wenas Wela (ඔයා හුඟක් වෙනස් වෙලා) pairs him with Gayani Madhusha, while Obata Ma features Samitha Mudunkotuwa. Sitha Handawala was recorded with Sajjad Hassan.
Outside music, Dayasiri Jayasekara is a prominent figure in Sri Lankan public life, having served as a Member of Parliament and as a provincial Chief Minister. While politics has remained his primary occupation, his songs continue to circulate widely among Sinhala listeners, and Lyrics-lk presents these Dayasiri Jayasekera recordings with Sinhala lyrics, transliteration, and English translation.
