Chinthy (චින්ති) is a Sri Lankan singer and producer counted among the early wave of local R&B and hip-hop artists who blended Western urban production with Sinhala lyrics in the mid-2000s. He is best known for tracks such as Sokari and Kandaam Dasa, and for collaborations with the producers and rappers who shaped the Sinhala hip-hop scene of that era.
Chinthy built his name during the rise of Sri Lankan urban pop, when artists began fusing R&B, reggaeton, and hip-hop with the Sinhala language. His debut album, Rising from the East, appeared around 2006 and placed him within the small group of performers taking that sound to mainstream radio.
His catalogue ranges from club-oriented dance numbers to melodic R&B. Tracks like Sokari, Kandaam Dasa, and Sanda Pini circulated widely on download portals and remain his most recognised recordings.
Chinthy worked alongside several figures central to the Sinhala hip-hop movement, including Ranidu and DeLon, as well as Iraj. Those partnerships placed him within the network of producers who defined Sri Lankan urban music in the 2000s.
