Chillie (චිලී), full name Chillie Thilanka and also written Chili, is a Sri Lankan singer, performer, and businessman known for melodic Sinhala love songs built around reflective, often philosophical lyrics. He emerged at the start of the 2010s and built a steady following with romantic ballads that became fixtures on Sri Lankan radio and download sites.
Chillie Thilanka’s recording career took off with his 2011 debut single “Pem Paata Wela”, which became an early hit and established the warm, sentimental style he is associated with. He followed it with a run of singles that kept him in regular rotation, including Laa Rosa, Mage Sitha Ridawa, and Obagen Tharam. Beyond music, he is also active as a stage performer and businessman, and he appeared as the character Kamal, a musician, in the 2014 Sri Lankan film Parapura.
Among the works that listeners most associate with Chillie is Tulip Mal Kakuli, also released under the longer title Hitha Hankithi Kawamin. His catalogue leans heavily on themes of love, longing, and separation, a register captured in songs such as Wen Wenna Bari Tharam and Oya Es Deka Duras Wela. Many of his tracks circulate across Sri Lankan music platforms, where Chillie Thilanka is indexed alongside his most-streamed singles.
