Nadeeka Jayawardana (also spelled Nadeeka Jayawardena) is a Sri Lankan singer, guitarist, and session musician known for a string of gentle, romantic Sinhala ballads, most associated with her 2009 album Sihinayak. A working performer for more than two decades, she is best recognised for the title song Sihinayak, opening with the line “Raya Pahan Kala”, which remains her signature recording.
Jayawardana built her catalogue around soft, melody-led love songs rather than chart-driven pop. The Sihinayak collection gathered the recordings she is best known for, including Perawadanak Nathi, Mata Kiyanna, and Gang Iwure. Several of these titles also appear under the alternate spelling Nadeeka Jayawardena on older Sinhala song archives, which is how many listeners first found them.
Alongside her solo work she has recorded duets, most notably the Cinderella film song “Kuruloo” with Indrachapa Liyanage. She also performs as a guitarist and teaches guitar, and continues to release new material, including collaborations issued in recent years.
Each song page presents the lyrics in the original Sinhala script with an English transliteration and translation, so the meaning of Nadeeka Jayawardana’s ballads is accessible to Sinhala speakers and diaspora listeners alike.
