Prihan Madappuli, whose full name is Prihan Randeva Madappuli, is a contemporary Sri Lankan singer and songwriter known for melodic Sinhala love songs. His catalogue spans original singles and the 2023 release Wewthale, and he keeps an active presence on streaming services and social media.
Madappuli works in the modern Sinhala pop and ballad tradition, releasing material as an independent artist rather than through the film-playback route. One of his most recognised recordings is “Yayata Payana”, a song that has circulated in more than one version and spelling across lyric sites. Lyrics-lk hosts it in two romanizations, as Yayata Payana and as Yaayata paayanaa (යායට පායනා).
His 2012 single “Selena” was recorded with Bathiya Jayakody, one half of the duo Bathiya and Santhush, and appears on the site as Selena Pinne Themena. The title track of his Wewthale project is carried here under two spellings, Wew Thale and Vawu thale, the latter being a song for which Madappuli is also credited as the writer.
