Timing, not any lack of love, is the wound: everything arrived after the moment for it had already passed.

The middle is the sleeplessness of that decision. Thoughts think far too much in the heart; because of her, tomorrow already fills with anguish; and he sits staring at my own held-out hand, not knowing what to do, as the whole night wears away. It is the long, wakeful night of someone about to leave.
