තවත් හිඳ පලක් නොම වේ ඉතිං

I shall flee,
away from a world I came to too late,
there is no use in staying any longer now,
I shall flee, away from the world
I came to too late
Even thoughts think far too much in the heart,
because of you, tomorrow’s anguish is made,
what on earth shall I do, I wonder,
staring at my own held-out hand,
the whole night wears away
One sweet moment of ours in this life
stays forever, unerased, in the heart,
leaving behind the spring I reached too late,
the moment of going feels closer and closer

Yannemi Song Meaning and Interpretation
A quiet, resigned song of departure, of a person deciding to walk away from a love, or a life, that came to them too late. There is no use staying any longer, the singer says; so, I shall flee, away from a world I came to too late. Timing, not any lack of love, is the wound: everything arrived after the moment for it had already passed.
The middle is the sleeplessness of that decision. Thoughts think far too much in the heart; because of her, tomorrow already fills with anguish; and he sits staring at my own held-out hand, not knowing what to do, as the whole night wears away. It is the long, wakeful night of someone about to leave.
The close holds the one thing he keeps. A single sweet moment they shared stays forever, unerased, in the heart, even as he turns away from the spring I reached too late. And the last line is the ache of it: the moment of going feels closer and closer. Sung by Tharindu Damsara to words by Kushan Shalika, it is a tender, melancholy song about leaving a love that came too late, carrying one unfadeable moment away with you.
