Tharindu Damsara

Tharindu Damsara (තරිඳු දම්සර) is a contemporary Sri Lankan singer, composer, and songwriter who works across both his own releases and music written for other vocalists. He is known to listeners for tracks such as Robarosiyan, Swetha, and Radical Paththini, and for composing songs that other singers have made their own.

Career

Damsara stepped out as a recording artist in the mid-2010s, with Robarosiyan (රොබරෝසියන්, 2016) widely cited as his first released song. He performed it as a duet with Kalpana Kavindi, setting an early pattern in his work of pairing his own voice with a guest singer. From there he built a catalogue that runs through self-titled releases and short albums, including Swetha, Radical Paththini, and a set of love-themed songs grouped under the Chanting of Love banner, with newer singles following into the 2020s.

Songwriting and composition

A large share of Damsara’s output is work he composed for other artists rather than sang himself.
