A stern, moral song of conscience from the Marians, rebuking cruelty and selfishness. It opens with a blunt indictment: without any humanity, full of inhumanity, you have become an animal with a deranged mind. A person who has lost their human-ness is being addressed directly.

The middle sharpens the charge. In human guise, where is it you are going, heaping insult upon human decency? Living like a senseless beast, spending your span thinking only of yourself, this person has walked a road destroying the human, and the song asks whether anything human is even left over in them.

The close reaches for a reckoning, in Buddhist terms. It asks the wrongdoer, simply, to stop and consider where all this leads.
