Hada Salena Lyrics
Nil guwan hasakelum - pawasamin pem hagum
Jeevitaye, yauwanaye, dakina..
Suwaladoon senehasin - mage pathum sarasamin
Ma denethe... ma manase... raduna...
Hadasalena.. rayee hima sisile.......
Rahase.. ahase aata ime
Muthu warusa, saluna tama mawe....
Nebidee nomekee e mathake...
Sithu lesin senasemin - nidahasen nelawemin
Mage diviye.. e yugaye thibuna
Dahasakin suwa dasun, pahasakin lada rasin
Mohanaye... sathsaraye raduna..
Hadasalena.. rayee hima sisile.......
Rahase.. ahase aata ime
Muthu warusa, saluna tama mawe....
Nebidee nomekee e mathake...
Hadasalena.. rayee hima sisile.......
Rahase.. ahase aata ime...
Hada Salena Lyrics English Translation
The blue sky’s moonlit glow, telling of feelings of love
Seen in life, in youth
With a tender, caring love, adorning all my wishes
It settled in my eyes, in my mind, and stayed
My heart trembles, in the cold dew of the night
In secret, far off at the edge of the sky
A shower of pearls, still it forms, swaying
That memory, undimmed, unerased
Finding peace just as I wished, soothed in freedom
In my life, in that time, it was there
A thousand healing sights, the taste of a gentle touch
It stayed in that spell, in the seven notes of music
My heart trembles, in the cold dew of the night
In secret, far off at the edge of the sky
A shower of pearls, still it forms, swaying
That memory, undimmed, unerased
My heart trembles, in the cold dew of the night
In secret, far off at the edge of the sky

Hada Salena Song Meaning and Interpretation
A young man is looking back on a time when he was loved, and the memory still moves him. The song begins under a clear blue sky lit by the moon, and right away he reads that gentle light as something speaking to him about love. In his youth, in the best stretch of his life, a soft and caring tenderness wrapped around all his hopes, and it lodged itself in his eyes and his mind and never left. The whole song lives in that warmth of remembering.
The chorus is where the feeling tightens. His heart trembles in the cold night dew, a quiet, lonely image of being awake and stirred when everything around him is still and cold. The “shower of pearls” is the key picture here. In Sinhala song, pearl-rain stands for something precious falling softly, tears, or scattered drops of beauty, and he says it is still forming far off at the edge of the sky, as if the memory keeps raining down on him even now. That memory has not blurred and has not been wiped away, no matter how much time has passed.
In the next verse he remembers how at peace he felt back then, free and gently rocked, the way you feel held by someone who loves you. He calls it a thousand healing sights and the sweetness of a single touch, and then he reaches for music itself: he was held in the “seven notes,” the seven swaras of the musical scale, the way a beautiful melody holds you and won’t let go. Love, for him, felt like being lost inside a song.
What the listener is left holding is not heartbreak so much as a tender ache. He is not crying over a loss as much as quietly living inside a memory that refuses to fade, returning to a cold, still night and a sky full of soft falling pearls, grateful that it once happened and unable to let it go.
