The sky and the sea are not chosen lightly here; they are the standard Sinhala images for something endless and something dangerous, so he is promising both reach and rescue, that his love will stretch as far as she goes and hold her even at her lowest. He ends with a quiet, lovely image of a songwriter in love: he plucks a tendril of feeling from his own heart, weaves it into a song, and lays it beside her. The song itself becomes the gift, the thing he leaves close to her so the love stays even when he cannot.

What you are left holding is the warmth of someone who has decided, fully and without hedging, that this is the person he wants to protect and stay near for good. It is plain, devoted, slightly shy love, the kind that would rather be teased in public than look away.
