Viraj Perera

Viraj Perera (විරාජ් පෙරේරා) is a Sri Lankan singer, composer, and music producer known for a string of popular Sinhala songs released through the 2010s and 2020s, including Saaritha, Thahanam Dan Mata, and Hitha Mula Karala. He works across both performing and production, writing and arranging music for his own recordings as well as for other vocalists.

Career

Viraj Perera emerged in the contemporary Sinhala pop scene, blending pop, R&B, hip hop, and electronic textures into mainstream Sinhala song. He is credited as both performer and music director on much of his catalog, and several of his tracks have drawn large audiences on streaming and download platforms. Saaritha (Adare Gini Pupuru) is among his most-streamed recordings, alongside Thahanam Dan Mata and Thathagathayanane.

Work as a composer

Beyond his own singing, Viraj Perera composes for a wide range of Sri Lankan vocalists. He has provided music for songs performed by Theekshana Anuradha, Udaya Sri Wickramasinghe, Athula Adikari, and Manjula Pushpakumara, among others. He also wrote the lyrics for Hitha Mula Karala, one of his own widely heard songs.
