Krishantha Erandaka (ක්රිශාන්ත එරන්දක, also spelled Krishantha Erandaka) is a Sri Lankan playback and stage vocalist whose warm, melody-led Sinhala love songs have circulated widely since the late 1990s. He is remembered for radio and television favourites such as Vee Paduren Igili Yana Kurulleku Lesin, Thisa Wewa Langa Ralapanawe and Awwe Muthu Ata Wapura, and for building a catalogue of roughly two hundred recordings across original songs and teledrama themes.
Erandaka comes from a rural village in the Anuradhapura district. He began performing as a child artiste on Rajarata Sevaya, the regional radio service, reportedly around 1987 when he was only about eight years old. That early grounding in live radio shaped the unhurried, lyric-first style that runs through his later work.
Much of Erandaka’s recorded output was built with a small circle of composers. Music directors Darshana Wickramatunga and Nalaka Anjana Kumara are credited with a large share of his melodies, together scoring around a hundred of his songs. One of his enduring early hits, Vee Paduren, carries lyrics by the award-winning writer Mahinda Dissanayake, a pairing that helped establish Erandaka as a singer associated with meaningful, well-crafted words rather than disposable pop.
His repertoire leans toward romantic and reflective themes, the kind of songs that recur at weddings and on long-running Sinhala request programmes. During the Covid-19 period he also turned organiser, compiling a set of songs that gave a platform to newer vocalists alongside his own voice.
Lyrics-lk presents these Krishantha Erandaka songs in the original Sinhala script alongside transliteration in English (Singlish) and an English translation, so the meaning of each lyric travels with the melody for listeners at home and across the diaspora.
