Intoxicated in your love, he begins, that past we spent together now leaves me alone, your memory caught in a corner of my heart, wounding me a little more every night. The very title, ma nubage, I am yours, turns painful once you realise he is still saying it to someone who has gone.

The middle is all sense-memory. In every breath, he says, the fragrance of her love-sighs still lingers, and alone inside that fragrance he feels how far away she now is. In every lonely moment his heart travels back and comes to rest right beside her, stopping on the road of memory to search once more for her face. She flew off into the distance, time blurred and carried the memories with it, and the playful dances and the words she once spoke have fallen buried and silent.

In the end he lives inside the dream. To stay near her one more moment, he says, the dream is still with him, and every night in it he is beside her again, kissing her lips, holding her, until he realises he never truly left that dream. Stay, he pleads with the time they spent together, please don’t go, and yet even now, again and again, it is her his heart keeps searching for.
