Sanda Se Besa Noya (Pabalu Theme) Lyrics English Translation

Like the moon that never sets, if you would live on in my world
I will hold the sorrow of these tears and live in your name
In your eyes I will dwell, and I will fade away

If you break my hopes and choose not to stay
I will fill my heart with you and slowly disappear
I will guard you the way I guard my own eyes
My beloved
I will comfort you, and so I will find peace

On the lane of pabalu flowers
my hand resting in your hands
if only we could walk along, the way we did before
How beautiful, this love that feels as if it has finally been won
You, always

Sanda Se Besa Noya (Pabalu Theme) Song Meaning and Interpretation

This is the theme song of the teledrama Pabalu, and it carries the feeling of a young man who has given his whole heart to the one he loves. He is not bargaining or demanding anything. He is making a quiet promise, the kind you make when someone has become the center of your world and you cannot imagine a day without them.

He opens by asking her to stay in his life the way the moon stays in the sky. The moon he reaches for is one that never sets, and that choice matters. In Sinhala songs the moon usually stands for a calm, gentle beauty, soft light in the dark, but here he stretches the image into a wish for permanence. He wants her to be the one constant thing that never goes away. Even if all he is left with is grief and tears, he says he will carry that pain and go on living simply because she exists. To hold her in his eyes, in Sinhala, is to keep someone as the most precious thing you have, the way you instinctively protect your own sight.

Then comes the harder thought. He imagines her leaving, his hopes breaking apart, and instead of turning bitter he says he will just fade quietly with her still filling his heart. There is no anger in it, only the soft ache of someone who would rather hurt than stop loving. His comfort and his peace are tied entirely to hers. If she is at ease, so is he.

The last verse opens into a memory, a lane lined with coral-red pabalu flowers, his hand in hers, the two of them walking together the way they once did. It is the small, ordinary happiness he longs to return to. By the closing line the love no longer feels like a hope but like something finally his, and he lands on a single word for her, you, always. What stays with you is the gentleness of it, a love offered without conditions, asking only that she remain.
