Kawadaada Enne Samindun Soya Lyrics

Kawadaa da enne samidun soyaa
Athhara damanne paape maayaa
Nathdo danenne ethuman dayaa
Kawadaada enne samidun soyaa

Bhawe suwe nathiwee widinaa sithe
Duk wedanaawan niwaalami ude
Kawadaa da enne dewidun soyaa
Dayaawayi samaawayi mata denna kiyaa
Aadare dayaawe preethiya soyaa
Kawadaa da enne dewidun soyaa

Kawadaa da enne samidun soyaa
Wipathe winaase paare no yaa
Pirisidu diya wetha diwa yana muwa powwaku se maa
Kawadaa da yanne dewidun soyaa...

Kawadaada Enne Samindun Soya Lyrics English Translation

When will you come, seeking the Lord,
casting away the illusion of sin?
Do you not feel his mercy?
When will you come, seeking the Lord?

In a heart that suffers, robbed of the comfort of life,
in the morning I quiet the pains of sorrow
When will you come, seeking God,
to ask him, “give me mercy and forgiveness”?
seeking love, and mercy, and joy,
when will you come, seeking God?

When will you come, seeking the Lord,
no longer walking the road of disaster and ruin?
Like a deer that runs to pure, clear water,
when will I go, seeking God?…

Kawadaada Enne Samindun Soya Song Meaning and Interpretation

This is a hymn of holy longing and gentle self-examination, and much of it is a question the singer keeps asking, not of God, but of himself, and of every listener: “when will you come, seeking the Lord?” It is the voice of a soul aware that it has been putting off the one thing that matters, “casting away the illusion of sin,” and it presses the point tenderly, “do you not feel his mercy?” The mercy is already there; the only question is when we will finally turn toward it.

The middle verse describes the ache that ought to drive that turning. “In a heart that suffers, robbed of the comfort of life,” the singer quiets his sorrows each morning, but he knows the real cure is elsewhere. What he longs to come and ask God for is beautifully simple, “give me mercy and forgiveness,” and what he is seeking is “love, and mercy, and joy.” These, not relief alone, are the true goal.

The song ends by shifting the question from “you” to “I,” making it personal, and it reaches for one of the loveliest images in the Psalms. “Like a deer that runs to pure, clear water, when will I go, seeking God?” The Psalmist wrote, “as the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul thirsts for God,” and here the singer feels that same thirst, no longer content to walk “the road of disaster and ruin.” What the listener is left with is a stirring invitation, the sense that mercy is waiting and the soul is thirsty, and the only thing left to decide is when, at last, we will run to the water and go seeking God.
