I will meet you on the mountaintop and tell you all that happened
so that I may know, Lord, your love
step by step, my feet climbing, mingled with your love,
I will declare, Jesus, your love
Hallelujah
I will awaken with the moon, in devotion, sitting close beside Mother,
so that I may know, Lord, your love
seated in the Father’s embrace, through the Son’s own experience,
I will meet you again on the mountaintop
Hallelujah
The mansion you gave, its owner is you, O Father,
never will it truly be my own
seated in the Father’s embrace, through the Son’s own experience,
I will meet you again on the mountaintop
Hallelujah

Hamuwennam Kandu Mudunedi Song Meaning and Interpretation
This is a hymn of longing for God and of heavenly hope, imagined as a meeting “on the mountaintop.” Throughout Scripture the mountain is the place where people encounter God, and here the singer promises to climb it “step by step,” his feet “mingled with your love,” in order “to know, Lord, your love” and to “declare it.” The repeated “Hallelujah” gives the whole song the feel of an upward, joyful pilgrimage.
The imagery is gentle and full of belonging. He pictures himself “sitting close beside Mother,” and, more importantly, “seated in the Father’s embrace,” experiencing God’s love “through the Son’s own experience,” a beautifully Trinitarian picture of being held by the Father and knowing him through Jesus. The believer feels like a child safe in a family, and from that security he keeps promising, “I will meet you again on the mountaintop.”
The final verse adds a note of humility that deepens the hope. “The mansion you gave, its owner is you, O Father, never will it truly be my own.” Even the heavenly home Jesus promised his followers is received as pure gift; the singer claims no ownership, only gratitude. What the listener is left with is the warm, upward-reaching faith of someone climbing toward God, longing to know his love fully, and trusting to be welcomed again and again into the Father’s embrace.
